- Detailed Self-Help Instructions
As you may be aware, over the past few years most of the major global Telecommunications providers have slowly been withdrawing dial-up services as a result of customer demand for faster, more reliable services via the internet.
Over the years, GXS has maintained a global service for our customers via a number of key providers including AT&T and Verizon. AT&T and Verizon have made the decision to withdraw dial-up globally and as such we are driven to communicate this change to our global customer base and explain the options for continued service to the GXS EDI network (VAN) platforms.
GXS would like to provide the maximum length of time to our customers in order to facilitate the migration to alternative services; however the reality is that we need to balance this window of migration with a prudent contingency, should any extension prove to be absolutely necessary. By maintaining a self-imposed buffer, we are in the position to manage any exceptions in extreme cases without the complexity and uncertainty of liaising with AT&T or Verizon.
If you are using a dial solution to connect in to any of the following services: GXS Tradanet®, MKIII, or GXS Trading Grid Messaging Service (TGMS), these changes will affect you. Even if you are planning to upgrade to an IP-based solution soon, it’s still worth changing to our new dialup numbers as soon as possible so that if your plans are delayed in any way, you have a back-up dialup solution which you already know can work successfully ahead of time.
No
It is possible that your trading partners might also be impacted if they connect to GXS Trading Grid® services via a dial-up solution that is being withdrawn by a 3rd party vendor. If this is the case your partners should have been notified of this change.
GXS has invested in an alternative GXS owned and maintained dial-up service with a number of regional contact points that can be used to connect to your GXS service.
If you are connecting with an Asynchronous/X28 protocol, you would need to change the phone number within the network/communications configuration within your software. The script that these new numbers follow should have the standard command structure that your existing dial-up numbers use so we don’t expect there to be any need for script changes.
However, if you are using custom-built software or a non-standard modem script then extra configuration could be necessary.
If you are connecting with PPP, you may also need to change the number within your Dial-up Networking settings on the machine itself.
For instructions on re-configuring GXS Software and the Dial-up Networking settings to use our new numbers, please click here.
If you are connecting with an application supported by a 3rd party software provider and are unsure how to change the dialup numbers, please contact your software provider.

November 1st is the closing date. If you still need to connect to your mailbox after this time, think that this cancellation may be revoked or extended past this date, please change your dialup numbers to the new GXS number(s) as soon as you can. If you are sure that you will no longer need GXS services past this dial closure date, you should not need to make any changes to your connectivity numbers. If in any doubt though, please make the changes.
