GXS Joins European E-Invoicing Solutions Providers Association

Sunbury, United Kingdom — December 15, 2011 — GXS™, a leading provider of business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce solutions, has announced that it has joined the European E-Invoicing Solutions Providers Association (EESPA) which will enable GXS to influence European-led e-Invoicing policies and initiatives impacting the way customers transact invoice data electronically. Joining the association allows GXS to actively engage with public policy agenda on the ongoing roll-out of a number of European-led initiatives to foster e-Invoicing adoption, which – according to European research – could bring estimated savings of more than £1 billion to the UK public sector alone, and could reach as much as £3 billion.

The EESPA was formed to ensure that decisions made at the European level take into account industry opinion and preferences to ensure fully workable and fit-for-purpose processes. By working with the EESPA, GXS will be able to further its commitment to improving understanding and adoption of e-Invoicing. GXS recently launched a dedicated e-Invoicing resource site – e-Invoicing Basics – which aims to dispel the myths and vendor hype that surrounds e-Invoicing initiatives and instead allows companies to understand the opportunities and the challenges associated with moving from paper to electronic invoices. Membership to the EESPA allows GXS to take this industry-leading knowledge and expertise to the next level, providing a mouthpiece for GXS to contribute to dialogue around standards and guidelines in a meaningful way.

“GXS has significant experience in the adoption of e-Invoicing and we are keen to help our customers to understand the benefits that widespread adoption can provide and what steps to take to best integrate electronic invoicing and compliance into their business,” comments, Nigel Taylor, head of e-Invoicing at GXS.  “With a growing number of EU states compelling suppliers to use e-Invoicing, particularly in the public sector, e-Invoicing adoption is set to skyrocket, but complexities have long pre-empted the need for a coordinated body to take a lead on discussing issues such as standards, data privacy and upcoming legislation. GXS is excited to be part of this initiative which will help to shape a fully workable environment for e-Invoicing in Europe.”
