Sunbury, United Kingdom — January 26, 2011 — GXS™ today announced that 80 new large companies had signed up for its Business-to-Business (B2B) Managed Services in 2010, a 60 percent increase over 2009. This growth is in addition to extension and expansion agreements with existing GXS Managed Services customers around the world. With this growth, volume in the company’s integration cloud platform, GXS Trading Grid®, passed ten billion transactions in 2010.
This is the third year in a row that the company has witnessed at least 50 percent customer growth in B2B Managed Services, which combines the world’s largest ecosystem for B2B integration, process orchestration and data quality services, with a global shared services team to monitor and manage a company’s multi-enterprise processes.
The new companies spanned multiple industries, including particularly strong growth in the high tech, consumer goods, retail, and general manufacturing industries. 50 percent of the 2010 customers are based outside the US. Asian banks and tech manufacturers like LG Electronics contributed to 90 percent year-over-year growth in Asia-Pacific. Tech manufacturers and top retailers like Virgin Stores contributed to 40 percent year-over-year growth in Europe.
“One of the mantras we have within the IT team at Electronic Arts is to keep our IT-enabled business operations “Always On” – that means ensuring our IT projects are always delivered on-time, on-budget and on-quality, and ensuring that our IT operations are always on from an availability and reliability perspective. This is why we brought GXS on board,” said Dennis Self, chief information officer, Electronic Arts. “We wanted a turn-key program whereby GXS would help manage the initial transition associated with consolidating our B2B platforms and ensure that ongoing B2B operations were “always on.” And that’s exactly what GXS has done. GXS has served as a key contributor in helping EA realise its vision to establish a world-class, global integration platform.”
“Whether improving ERP performance or consolidating integration platforms, companies are increasingly turning to cloud-based integration platforms,” said Bobby Patrick, chief marketing officer, GXS. “We are continually humbled to be helping our customers transform their businesses. Cloud-based services provide an excellent opportunity for businesses to realign information ownership and responsibilities. While B2B e-commerce is by far the most popular customer scenario today, we are also excited by emerging scenarios using GXS Trading Grid, such as customer data integration in corporate banking, and help-desk to help-desk integration in manufacturing.”
According to GXS, companies are choosing B2B Managed Services to address three common business challenges:
Modernising IT platforms: Trying to balance cost pressures and customer needs, companies are faced with the need to rapidly modernise IT systems and extend business partner connections without adding headcount (FTE), hardware and software.
Keeping ERP projects on schedule: Companies are looking to ways to ensure their ERP projects on-track and on-budget and improve the overall return-on-investment. With an average of 34 percent of the data feeding an ERP coming from external sources, according to AMR Research[i], a company’s ability to orchestrate integration changes across business partners is critical to the success of any ERP update (learn more at www.b2bforsap.co.uk).
Improving customer service and speed-to-market: Banks and retailers need to improve their ability to service corporate customers by delivering faster implementation timeframes, a broader set of integration options and more responsiveness.
