GXS Leads SME Integration Discussion at 112th EDIFICE Plenary Event

Sunbury, United Kingdom — November 3rd, 2010 — GXS™, the world’s leading provider of B2B e-commerce solutions, is co-sponsoring the 112th EDIFICE Plenary on Wednesday 3rd November and Thursday 4th November in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The event’s theme is “B2B Readiness in Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Markets”.

Bobby Patrick, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at GXS, will present a keynote on “The SME Dilemma: Building Customised Supply Chains while Serving SME Markets.” Mr. Patrick will address the state of global trading partner collabouration, emphasising how rising supply chain complexity and costs and demands for 100% automation can be lowered through the use of B2B e-commerce solutions designed for SME trading partners.

“There’s a fundamental shift underway in the balance of power between trading partners,” said Bobby Patrick. “The latest research shows that 86% of supply chain executives expect an increase in complex requests from customers, while 87% agree that flexible B2B e-commerce programs enable them to differentiate on service. Buyers are increasingly requesting customised item setups (SKUs), more complex replenishment models and a range of shipping, logistics and warehousing models. As small suppliers adapt to these new demands, it’s important that we come together as an industry to analyse these changes, assess the constraints and identify the opportunities.”

EDIFICE, the European Network for B2B integration in High Tech Industries, provides a forum for European organisations to create standardised processes through best practices, information sharing and standards development. Each Plenary brings together companies interested in sharing ideas and best practices specifically within the technology market, including B2B standards, governance and legislation, ROI and business modeling.

“This EDIFICE plenary provides the perfect opportunity to highlight the strategies and tools needed to accelerate B2B SME adoption while maintaining supply chain flexibility,” said Denise Oakley, vice chair of EDIFICE and international marketing director at GXS. “Sharing best practices enables organisations of all sizes to identify new sources of sustainable competitive advantage enabling them to improve efficiency across the business.”
