Sunbury, United Kingdom — March 21, 2006 — GXS™, a leading provider of business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce solutions, today announced the launch of two new GXS Community Link service level agreements (SLAs), the company’s best-in-class trading partner community enablement program, providing global trading partner ramping, technical support and change management. The two SLAs, Community Link Standard and Community Link Global, both include a 100 percent trading partner ramping guarantee, enabling companies to rely on GXS as their single global provider of community enablement services. GXS Community Link, part of the GXS Outsourcing family of services, provides support and implementation for the adoption of B2B e-commerce — no matter the platform — across a global trading partner community. Through these SLAs, GXS will guarantee B2B e-commerce enablement with a customer’s designated trading partners regardless of number, size of business, area of focus or e-commerce capability. The combination of GXS’ experienced program managers around the globe, range of technology solutions and proven enablement methodology, make these SLAs possible.
GXS Community Link Standard is targeted for companies with a domestic trading partner base. Once the company provides GXS with a qualified list of trading partners, GXS will conduct outreach to businesses and offer them a range of service options, including Web forms, electronic data interchange (EDI), AS2 and others, enabling them to conduct B2B e-commerce transactions efficiently. In addition to the 100 percent community enablement guarantee, customers also will receive detailed analytics, reporting and EDI online testing. The GXS Community Link Global package is designed for international rollouts, and includes the same features and benefits as the Standard offering, but on a global scale. For all customers of GXS Community Link at any level, GXS will provide supplier education and communication in the form of Webinars and co-branded materials, connectivity and document testing and program management. Pricing for the Community Link SLA is based on number of trading partners. If the guaranteed community ramping percentage is not met within the pre-set timeframe, and all the customer commitments have been met, GXS will refund a portion of the Community Link service fee — based on the percentage difference — to the customer.
“As a core business function, B2B e-commerce is experiencing resurgence, and companies have become increasingly reliant on the ability to interact with trading partners in an automated fashion. To maintain competitive advantages, companies can no longer depend on manual processes and the associated and inevitable transaction errors that slow business growth and impact customer service,” said Steve Keifer, vice president of industry and product marketing at GXS. “Businesses are requiring B2B e-commerce guarantees and GXS is focused on delivering them. We anticipate our community enablement guarantee will have a profound impact on our customers and will transform their view of the global B2B e-commerce landscape.”
As supply chains have become more geographically dispersed in recent years, the ability for a company to conduct B2B e-commerce with all its trading partners — without the assistance of outside resources — has become more challenging. While some companies have sought to build and enable their own electronic trading communities, doing so requires massive internal resource investments in personnel, experience and technology. For a business focused on other core competencies, conducting community enablement in-house detracts from supporting fundamental priorities. GXS not only has experience providing this service in a variety of industries, it also can build communities more quickly and effectively, allowing customers to free up resources for other projects. GXS has a strong footprint around the globe, including in emerging manufacturing hubs of China, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, South and Central America, a key benefit for American and European hub companies outsourcing manufacturing or sourcing goods from these regions.
In the past, e-commerce enablement for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) was difficult and rare, as solution options were complex and cost prohibitive. GXS has launched a variety of B2B e-commerce solutions, enabling the company to serve large and small businesses “jointly and distinctly.” GXS solutions fit a range of needs including, but not limited to, EDI-to-Fax, AS2, Web forms, SMB accounting package integration (e.g., Quickbooks), machine-to-machine EDI or XML. According to AMR Research, “More and more manufacturers are executing the Source process by communicating electronically and automating the coordination of processes with suppliers. Also, companies striving to achieve a Demand-Driven Supply Network (DDSN) use this collabourative, pull-based replenishment model to create a more agile supply network to better address demand fluctuations.”1
